Celebrating 35 Years

This year marks a momentous occasion as we celebrate 35 years of service and expand our common bond.

Wednesday the 28th of February 2024 marked 35 years since we were founded. We have also taken this occasion as an opportunity to officially announce our name change from ‘Central Liverpool Credit Union’ to ‘Central Credit Union.’

Founded on the principles of financial inclusion and community empowerment, after three and a half decades of supporting the financial wellbeing of individuals and families within the Liverpool City Region, we have seen remarkable success and growth. To empower even more communities, we are expanding our common bond beyond the Liverpool City Region. Our common bond will now cover West Lancashire, Wigan, Warrington, Chester, and Cheshire West.

This means residents across these areas can now become members and benefit from the unique advantages of belonging to a credit union. Such as competitive rates, ethical banking practices, and a focus on financial inclusion and wellbeing.

We’re excited to welcome new members and continue providing tailored financial solutions that prioritise their wellbeing the credit union slogan “PEOPLE HELPING PEOPLE” has never been more pertinent.”

To mark this exciting new chapter, Central Credit Union will be hosting two celebratory events:

• Wednesday 28th February 2024: A small gathering held at Head Office on Park Street, Liverpool, for staff and members to celebrate the anniversary and launch the new name.
• Friday 20th September 2024: An invitation-only celebration at the Titanic Hotel Liverpool, bringing together members, partners, and stakeholders to toast to the continued success and growth.

Giving back to members

To further celebrate and give back to members, every month until September we will be running a prize draw. Each month one adult member and one junior member will be in with the chance of winning £1,000 and £100. Members do not need to sign up for this, as we will make the draw randomly from our membership database.

We commit to fostering financial inclusion and building stronger communities. This name change and common bond expansion mark a significant step forward in achieving this goal.
